Morocco '07 (shakin'... not stirred!)
"Thank you all for making the Moroccan adventure marvelous. Usually I shy
away from tours but Oasis is a special group. I'm glad and fortunate to have been able to spend a bit of time with all of you beautiful women.
Tomorrow, for my birthday, I will cook my favorite couscous and zahlouk
(eggplant) recipes and try to make some of those great carrot, cauliflower
and beet side dishes. I keep dreaming about all of the tagines, and amazing candlelit meals we had at the riad, our attentive waiter, and by the way, did anyone
ever take a photo of that hideous painting? Sadly, I forgot to, but I did get one of Elizabeth and her famous table move!
I miss you all more than that sweet bird who sang to us when the sun was
rising and who gave us encouragement as we danced during our workshop with
Cassandra. I miss you all more than being on the magic bus traveling
through Wonderland...and I miss you all even more than that insanely
delicious morning greasy bread and I mean I really do miss it!"

A Magical Visit To Morocco
"Music and dance are wonderful ambassadors. As I've been writing out my
memoirs from Oasis Camp Morocco, I am amazed how well we were able to
communicate with the various people we encountered through dance. The
Guedra certainly won't forget us (Hokey Pokey, anyone?), and the ladies
who invited us to join their line for the Ahidious in the desert were
delighted to share their traditions with us and so generous as to teach
us their dance, without mutually understood spoken language. The camp
seemed too quiet after they went home for the evening. Oasis Morocco
provides an unrivaled atmosphere for cultural exchange and the
opportunity to learn about Moroccan culture in a way that just wouldn't
happen on the average tour of the country. Thank you for a magical visit
to Morocco..."

Let's Meet Again Under A Starry Saharan Sky
"Dear Everyone-
It's good to hear all your stories of safe homeward travel despite
things like major airline delays, illness and credit card theft. We have
been home for one whole week now and every day I find more little things
that I miss about Morocco. The co-op where I work seems suddenly to carry a
lot of items that remind me of the trip: my favorite body care line
apparently makes a rose clay facial mask made from Moroccan ghassoul clay,
our deli sells Moroccan lamb stew, and we have some bottled Moroccan mint
tea (which of course tastes nothing like the tea we had each day). I'm sure
these things have always been there, it's just that I notice them now :-)
Anyway, I wanted to say thank you to all of you for a truly wonderful
trip. I had no idea what to expect and since I have not been dancing that
long, had never been to an Oasis camp and had never traveled to Africa I
was a little nervous as I sat in the JFK snack bar waiting for the group to
gather. Jean mentioned that I might feel like I was attending someone
else's family reunion at first, but I am happy to say that the feeling
was very short-lived. I had such an incredible time and could not have
asked for a better group of traveling companions. Everyone contributed some
special element of her own and made the trip what it was. So thank you,
thank you, thank you, and let's meet again under a starry Saharan sky.
Best wishes from Minneapolis,
Laura"
